Funding Guidelines
Our Guidelines
- We support organizations and programs that meet the educational, health, human service, and cultural needs of children, youth, and families.
- We support organizations and programs across the state of Georgia with an emphasis on metro Atlanta.
- We support organizations with budgets of $500,000 or greater.
- Prospective organizations must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and classified as a public charity under Section 509(a)(1), (2) or(3) of that law. Any prospective public charity under Section 509(a)(3) will be required to demonstrate to the Foundation’s satisfaction that it is an eligible grantee.
- Organizations that have not received funding from the Zeist Foundation before may apply for a one-year gift not exceeding $100,000, or 10% of their operating budget. New organizations cannot request multi-year funding.
- Organizations that apply for renewed funding can request more than $100,000, as long as it does not exceed 10% of the budget.
- Organizations that have received Foundation support for three consecutive years are subject to the “funding gap” policy, where the Foundation Directors may not invite the organization to apply for funding for the fourth year.
Types of Funding
The Foundation provides four types of funding to nonprofits:
- General Operating – unrestricted support
- Program/Project – restricted to an existing program or a special project
